If you are thinking about starting your own website, but are under the impression that the work is simply too complicated or expensive, don't worry.  Been there, done that!!

In this section, I want to explain to you why most websites fail to understand the important of proper contents as part of search engine optimization and how a few simple changes would help their websites achieve a top ranking in the search engines.   The information here is taken from my manual Easywebsite101, which covers everything in much more detail and gives you step-by-step instructions on how to actually optimize your website for the search engines.

• To rank high in the search engines, you need to have lots of information and proper contents.
  Fact:  If you go to Google and do any type of search, you will see that virtually all top ranking websites have lots of contents and information.  Top ranking websites typically feature a lot of webpages, which is why most commonly used templates are basically useless and even professionally designed websites rarely ever rank well.
  
  Most website owners believe that their website will rank well simply because their site is up and running and because they have often paid hundreds or thousands to so-called "professionals".  Unfortunately, as you can see in the results, this thinking is nothing more than wishful thinking.  Do a search for anything you like and look at the results on pages 10, 50, or 100.  You will find thousands of professionally designed websites with no hope of ever ranking high in the search engines due to the fact that the main ingredient that the search engines is missing.
  
  Search engines look for contents and the more you have it, the higher you will rank.  Of course, contents alone will not do the trick by itself, but it is a main part of a well planned search engine optimization strategy.  To begin with, you need to have lots of webpages and I mean lots.  A 5 page website might seem alright, if all you want to do is plaster your website name in your store window, but to get a high ranking in the search engines, you will need a lot more.
  
  If you look at most high ranking websites, you will find that they have typically many links in their homepages pointing to various product, service, and information sections and each one has lots of additional information in them.  You need to have lots of keyword specific information in such a way, that the search engines will understand what it is you are focusing on without making it too confusing.
