If you want to rank high in Google and the search engines, your website has to have lots of contents.
Search engine optimization can be a very confusing and daunting task, especially if you are a beginner or have only limited knowledge about web design.  This is why I created my manual, which is specifically designed for beginners and current website owners who want to have a top ranking website in Google and the other search engines.

Keywords are basically the words that matter most to you as far as a high ranking in the search engines is concerned.  If you sell shoes for example, then the keywords that matter most to you would be the ones that you want people to search for and find your site.  Obviously, these keywords need to relate to your site and products, but what a lot of website owners don't understand is that the search engines look for much more than just purpose or content. 

Search engines look at the overall web page and not just particular pieces, so if you want to rank high in Google or the other search engines for certain keywords, you need to make sure that your relevant keywords are part of the whole page and not just added in bits here and there.  Your file names, pictures, meta tags, and text need to include the keywords.  This is why virtually all high ranking websites have lots of web pages.   By adding lots of keyword specific contents, you are not just reinforcing the main keywords, but also the more specific ones, which can help you expand your website's presence in the search results in increase your traffic in ways you can't even imagine.  When I implemented all of these steps in my own retail website, my traffic increased more than 6 fold and this is one of the reasons why my sites rank so high for many different keyword combinations instead of just a few.
